Allianz Asia-Pacific

The special relationship between Allianz and the Asia Pacific region began in the early 1900s and has grown over the years through growth in key markets. The development of international trade also helped to foster the expansion of insurance, asset management, banking and reinsurance across the region.

Allianz first began business activities in Asia in 1917 when it provided customers in Chinese coastal cities with insurance. In the 1920s, Allianz opened up offices in India, Bangkok and Thailand to serve customers there.

Asia, being the largest growth market, is of key strategic importance to Allianz. In 1996, Allianz opened its Asia Pacific regional office in Singapore. Then it was operating 4 general insurance companies and 4 representative offices.

Today, Allianz is present in 15 markets throughout Asia Pacific with over 13,000 employees. We bring our expertise to the region by covering many important industrial and engineering projects. Allianz is committed to developing its core businesses - life and health insurance, general insurance and asset management in the region, through organic growth as well as via acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic partnerships.
